To fulfill the two-day work exchange, Work/Exchange Residents work on outreach, fundraising, media, gardening, and/or barn renovation projects. The staff coordinates ahead of time with Work/Exchange Residents to choose projects that fit their skill sets and interests. Types of labor needed include carpentry, plumbing, electricity, organizing/cleaning, barn demolition and renovation, gardening, landscaping, wood chopping/stacking, studio set-up, PR, social media, grants writing, administrative skills, etc. These projects make each resident part of the growing alumni network, as well as an essential contributor to the program’s growth, helping to actualize the full potential of FAEx.
